Actually they use a filtration system designed by Tata that has customized filters that target the particular water contaminants of the region. It's a fairly simple RO system with two 5K Liter tanks that store the raw and cleaned water. In total, the water plant costs about 700,000 Rupees to set up, which is a little under 20K USD and that's including the infrastructure costs of drilling a bore-well, etc.
