You don't exist till people notice you. This was true in school, and it is true of organizations. It didn't stop you from getting good grades though. Sometimes it helps. Maybe Paul wanted to get certain things in place before attracting a lot of attention. Incidentally I interviewed him at Sankalp 2009. It is also possible that his slightly retiring nature has something to do with Villgro's low profile:) I agree with you however. Ours in an age for beating your chest. It is crucial to get your brand visible and talked about. Social networking lends itself best to the promotion of social brands.

There is a third solution to this. I think Villgro should significantly expand its social web / media presence through the use of college interns who are dying to get involved anyway. That way, the overhead would be much less (you would still probably need 1 FTE to manage the operation), and you would essentially be able to test drive your potential new fellows.

What's particularly important to remember is that PR campaigns these days are starting to get the flywheel effect. So just put enough effort to seed a few channels, and the distribution literally is done for you through the social web.
